[August 2026] 🤘 4 major features from this summer

Summer Recap + How I audit referral programs

Hey it’s Mica,

For those of you in the Northern Hemisphere, I hope you had a nice summer. My summer was great but a bit hectic. From kids camps to vacations (both mine and covering for team members), there was a lot going on.

If you’re like me, you probably missed a few updates and need some time to catch up on the projects you oversee.

This month, we’re recapping the 4 major product updates from this summer:

  • Give referred friends a page built for them

  • Enroll new customers automatically

  • Choose which notifications you receive

  • Setup recruiters faster and route referrals to them

I’m also sharing the 5 questions I ask when I audit referral programs (get in touch if you need help with your program).

Let's dive in. 👇👇

☀️ What We Shipped This Summer

It was a good summer for new features. We originally planned for 2 big features but shipped 4 (shout-out to the product team)!

Here’s a look at what was released this summer.

📝 Give referred friends a page built for them

The Referral Form is a better way to capture a referral’s interest. It is designed for the referral experience and differs from traditional landing pages.

Here’s how the new experience better captures interest:

  • Leads with the referrer's recommendation rather than your branding

  • Asks for fewer fields, with anything else collected progressively

  • Shows the offer and the next step on the confirmation screen, instead of making someone wait for an email

  • Built for mobile viewing with the form and confirmation visible on smaller screens

🔄 Enroll new customers automatically

New customers flow into your program on their own without you having to do any manual uploads.

When a new customer comes in:

  • They are added as a preloaded member, so they are in your program ready to share

  • They receive an invite email according to your settings, so they can start sharing

  • If they came in as a referral, it is approved automatically, and any associated rewards are triggered based on your reward rules

Prefer to handle it yourself? The Customer Import does the same job from a single upload.

Customer Feeds are available through our API, Zapier, HubSpot, and Salesforce. We are actively building more direct integrations, based on what customers are asking for.

If there is a system you want connected, reply and tell us which one.

🔔 Choose which notifications you receive

The new notification system went live this month. Each user now has direct control over the notifications they receive.

  • Choose what you get, and where it lands - Every notification can be switched on/off and is available in the app, by email, or both.

  • In-App Inbox Management - Filter by program, archive what you have handled, keep things unread as a running list of what still needs attention

  • New notifications - 3 new notifications for reward added, member email blocked, bulk import complete

  • Smarter notification emails - Better looking emails that combine and summarize similar notifications instead of a single email every time

👥 Setup recruiters faster and route referrals to them

Two things got easier: 1) setting up new recruiters 2) routing new referrals to the assigned recruiter.

  • Bulk import recruiters - Add new recruiters or update existing ones in bulk with an option to send them a welcome email so they can get straight into their recruiter portal

  • Route referrals to the assigned recruiter in your CRM - When a new referral is created, automatically assign that referral to the associated recruiter in your CRM based on recruiter email or external ID

  • Assign members to recruiters automatically - Assign a recruiter to a new member based on the recruiter’s email or external ID

🧭 5 questions I ask when I audit referral programs

Every week, I’m working with customers to make their referral programs better. This is hands down one of my favorite parts of the job.

Over the past month, I’ve helped over 25 customers improve their referral program strategy, implement new features, and setup automations so their programs work in the background.

Here are 5 questions I ask when I look at a referral program.

1) Are you inviting new members on a rolling basis?

We’ve previously talked about the share window and the importance of inviting new customers to your referral program over time. Great in theory but hard in practice if you don’t have the processes and automations in place.

I spend a lot of time working with customers to identify the key events for adding new members to their program and then helping them setup automated invites.

Our new Customer Feed (see above) was build for this exact use case.

2) Is your program discoverable in at least 3 places?

We launched Discovery Paths last May to make it easier to get your referral program in front of customers so they can easily find it when they’re looking or stumble upon it while engaging with your business.

I like to tell people the more places the merrier and all roads should lead to the Member Portal. This is true but can be overwhelming for customers that don’t have anything in place already.

I recommend to get started with the 3-5 common places (can always add more later).

3) Are you rewarding both sides (members and referrals)?

This is a hill I will die on. So many programs don’t have rewards for the referred friend. Not because they’re unwilling but because they don’t think about it.

I blame the internet. There is a lot of bad advice out there that just focuses on rewarding the member (most of this coming from your traditional affiliate programs).

For a customer program, you need to reward the referral as well. There is a lot of psychology into why people share and a big part of that because they get to give their friend a gift. The referred friend is also more willing to express interest when there is a reward to claim.

If you can’t think of a referral reward then get in touch. I promise we can come up with something together.

4) Do you provide a good referred friend experience?

The Referral Form might be the best feature we released this summer. Over 95% of everyone I talk to has switched to it. It has all the best practices built in:

  • Personalized from the referring member

  • Puts the referral offer front and center

  • Frictionless experience from page copy to form

  • Optionize for mobile viewing

Get in touch to switch over to the new Referral Form (we’ll even create the messaging for you if you need help). Worst case, take a look and update your own page based on these best practices.

5) Are you reminding members your referral program exists?

One of the easiest things you can do to increase ongoing program engagement is to enable the Monthly Summary email. This email gets sent to all invited and activated members every month reminding them of the program and showing them their stats.

It’s a light (non-invasive) emails with very low unsubscribe rates.

Enable your Monthly Summary email to keep your program top of mind. More coming soon in this area. Stay tuned.
